1. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt.
2. Cream the butter and sugars thoroughly mixing.
3. Add the egg and vanilla.
4. Beat well to blend.
5. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually, mixing thoroughly.
6. Shape into balls using a rounded teaspoonful of dough for each.
7. Flatten to 1/2 inch thickness using the the bottom of a glass that has been floured.
8. Cover each cookie with about 1/2 teaspoon of the crushed toffee.
9. Bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes.
10. Remove from baking sheet immediately and cool on a wire rack.
