1. Mix the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
2. Stir in the flour, baking soda and salt.
3. Blend in nuts.
4. Form the mixture into two rolls about 2" in diameter.
5. Wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight.
6. The next day heat the oven to 400 degrees.
7. Cut into slices 1/8" thick and place on ungreased baking sheet 1" apart.
8. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
